BEIJING Anders Bjork Jersey , May 4 (Xinhua) -- The 17-year-old Sun Haoran had his dying wish realized when thousands of Beijing Guo'an fans held his pictures to watch the team's Chinese Super League game.

Sun, a loyal Guo'an supporter, had hoped to watch the team's home game one last time but died of bone cancer Wednesday.

""I am not afraid of cancer. As long as I can stand in the stadium, I will certainly be a good flag bearer,"" the Beijing boy once said, who even designed a flag of a wolf which originally comes from a Chinese animation and is known for its resilience.

Sun could not make it to Friday's home match and his fellow fans decided to realize his dream in another way.

""Let Haoran hear us. He is always one of us,"" thousands of Guo'an fans chanted together and mourned for the boy for three minutes before the match in which Guo'an beat Shijiazhuang 3-1.

""Thank everyone who did this for Haoran. I believe he can see this in heaven,"" said Haoran's tearful father.

Sun was diagnosed with bone cancer in 2014 and forced to have his right arm amputated and received chemotherapy.

While he was under treatment, Sun kept following his beloved team, even watching an away game in southern city Guangzhou.

However, the cancer came back in March and became so severe that Sun could hardly walk by himself in just one month.

To encourage him to keep fighting, Guo'an club filmed a video with Sun's favorite players sending best wishes. But Sun did not wait to watch the video himself.

JAKARTA, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Series of Chinese cultural events aimed at promoting closer people-to-people contact between China and Indonesia commenced here on Tuesday, helping locals know more about China.

The whole events, dubbed Experience China, were comprised of photo exhibition, inaugration of China Library, Indonesia-China music concert and a media forum.

Speaking in his remarks to address the opening ceremony of photo exhibition entitled Maritime Silk Road Pearl earlier in the day, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Association of Cultural Construction, Wang Shimin, said interaction between Indonesia and China would be greatly favored by the two peoples.

"Through the cultural exchange program, closer acquaintance and understanding between Indonesian and Chinese people can be improved, laying a more solid foundation for the development of the bilateral relation," he said.

The photo exhibition displayed more than 150 photos highlighting daily life and scenery of China's eight cities regarded as the pearls of the Maritime Silk Road.

The exhibition would allow Indonesians to better understand China, nurture bilateral relations between the two nations which is believed to gain greater potentialities in the future, Deputy Chief of Indonesia-China Association Sudrajat said in his remarks in the event.

Featured in the Experience China program, the inaugration of China Library in Al Azhar University provides knowledge about China through thousands of China-themed books, journals and magazines.

The China Library was set up on Al Azhar University's campus premises and is open for public.

The campus rector, Ahmad Lubis, expected that China Library would greatly facilitate people-to-people contact as it helps Indonesian to acuire deeper knowledge on China's development in areas such as politic, economic, culture, science and technology and learn from China's experience in running the country.

A music concert performed by Indonesian and Chinese singers was also held later in the evening, presenting popular folk songs from both nations.

More understanding was expected to result from the media forum event scheduled on Wednesday, as journalists of both nations would meet and discuss who will share their experiences in carrying out their tasks.

WASHINGTON, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Barack Obama on Friday hailed "extraordinary strides in driving back Ebola" in a meeting with his Liberian counterpart Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf at the White House.

Obama said new Ebola cases in Liberia are now down 95 percent from the peak, with just "a handful of cases" being reported per week.

But he cautioned that the job "is not yet done" and that neighboring countries like Guinea and Sierra Leone "are still somewhat behind the progress" that's been made in Liberia.

"The meeting today will obviously discuss how we make sure that we're not complacent so long as there's even one case of Ebola remaining in West Africa," the U.S. president said.

During her remarks, Liberian President Johnson-Sirleaf expressed her thanks to the U.S. for helping in the fight against Ebola.

Johnson-Sirleaf said even though 13 of 15 counties in her country have no new Ebola cases, Liberia's still not "getting to the place where we can really say we can confront and we can beat this disease."

"We know that we all remain under threat until all of us have reached a place where we get to zero," she continued. "And so we have to remain resilient."

There have been nearly 24,000 cases and 9,600 deaths since the Ebola outbreak began last year in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone, according to the World Health Organization.

But there has been a significant decline in new Ebola cases this year in the three West African countries, especially in Liberia. Earlier this month, the White House announced that all but 100 of the 2,800 U.S. troops deployed to West Africa to help fight Ebola with will return home by the end of April.

Also on Friday, the U.S. and Liberian governments launched a clinical trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of an experimental Ebola drug called ZMapp.
